Sending Large Files PDF Print E-mail

Sending Large files This comes up a lot with clients, and I see people constantly running up against the limitation of most mail servers not allowing large file attachments. I've come up with a solution that allows you to use your existing web hosting storage space and website, where we can set you up with an encrypted, password protected folder to upload large files to. You then can email the hidden link to access the files to your recipients, and provide them the login name and password that are also needed to access the files. So not only is the file location and access password protected, but the login information is encrypted by SSL encryption that's insured to $10,000, at least on our servers. Sure there are plenty of free or low cost services like yousendit.com, but using your own hosting account , and ours with SSL in particular, offers you the ability to take advantage of your existing hosting storage that you already pay for. Additionally there are a host of advantages (I did not plan that pun), both in features and security by using this setup.

For the cost of about an hour of setup time, the ability for you to login securely to a password protected folder setup on your own hosting account allows you to use your secure webspace, not some free service with no guarantees to your privacy or the security of your information. You are only limited by the amount of space your web hosting plan currently has. This can most likely can be setup on your existing webhost even if it is not us, though we do insist that your webhost offers you the ability to use a shared SSL certificate so that your login information is encrypted. Unencryoted passwords are just too easy to hack. You can also buy your own SSL certificate from us. If you host with us, think of it as just another way to utilize the service you already pay for. If you don't host with us, and for some reason we can't set this up on your webhost (perhaps they don't offer the hosting features we do), consider one of our low end hosting plans to use just for this purpose. They start at $6.00 monthly for a web, email and hosting plan with 50mb of storage space (I am considering increasing this to 100mb soon). Additionally we have a (beta) online backup plan for $5.00 monthly that we could setup with this ability - that plan offers 2 full GIGABYTES of storage. In fact, for a slightly different approach, our online backup service can be setup almost exactly like dropbox, where a local folder on your computer is synced to our servers, and additiionally/optionally to your other computers as well, you just copy your files to a certain folder on your computer. For the backup plan We monitor your backups and guarantee the privacy and security of your data. The syncing across multiple computers and into the cloud is definitely a topic for another article -or just email if you want to know how to set this up.

Of course I setup this service for myself before offering it to you, so you can feel free to use it by uploading me large files that you can't email. But you need to ask me for the login information first. To see the easy and secure web based file upload/sharing: Just watch the video
